The Wardens
The Master and the Wardens, as Principal Officers of the Lodge, have the right and responsibility of attending the Quarterly Communications of Grand Lodge, which are held at Freemasons’ Hall, and they should be provided with the relevant papers by the Lodge Secretary.
The Wardens should be aware that they may soon be elected Master, and should prepare themselves accordingly in all matters. It would be desirable to attend the “Preparing for the Master’s Chair” course run by the Provincial Learning & Development Committee.
They should be fully acquainted with the Book of Constitutions, especially Rules 94 – 191C (Private Lodges), the Lodge By-laws and should make themselves proficient in the ritual of the Lodge.
In the absence of the Master the Senior Warden might, in certain circumstances, be required to convene a Lodge meeting, but the work from the Chair may only be done by an Installed Master or Past Master. [Rule 119]
The Junior Warden is responsible for ensuring that any unknown visitor to the Lodge is properly entitled to visit.
The Wardens should take care to make themselves as proficient as possible in their parts of all the Ceremonies.
