Berkshire Freemasons Step Up to Keep Local Kids’ Football Team Warm

This Winter Sudlington Bridge Coaches Secure Grant for Finchampstead Under 9s Bullets’ Winter Coats A heartfelt act of generosity has warmed the spirits of a local youth football team, thanks to the support of the Berkshire Freemasons.

The Finchampstead Bullets, a passionate group of nine young footballers, will now be able to train and play comfortably through the colder months after receiving a grant for winter coats from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Berkshire.

The initiative was driven by two dedicated Freemasons from Sudlington Bridge lodge, who also serve as volunteer coaches for the team. These two men, both members of Sudlington Bridge Lodge, devote their free time to coaching the Bullets, instilling not only footballing skills but also the values of teamwork, discipline, and community spirit.

Recognising that some of the children in their team were unable to afford warm coats, they turned to their Masonic brethren for support—embodying the very essence of Freemasonry’s commitment to charity, brotherhood, and service to the community.

Freemasonry in Action: No Child Left in the Cold Upon hearing about the situation, the Berkshire Freemasons quickly stepped up, providing funding to ensure that every player had a proper winter coat. Their swift and generous response is a testament to the fraternity’s unwavering commitment to making a tangible difference in people’s lives, particularly at the local level. "Freemasonry is all about looking after those in need, and for us, that starts right here in our community," said one of the Sudlington Lodge coaches. ".

Thanks to the generosity of the Berkshire Freemasons, every child in our team now has what they need to keep playing the sport they love." Building a Stronger Community, One Act of Kindness at a Time The grant is just one example of the many ways in which Freemasonry supports local initiatives, with lodges across Berkshire regularly providing funding, resources, and hands-on assistance for good causes.

For the Finchampstead Bullets, these coats are more than just protection from the cold; they are a symbol of a community that cares, a team that stands together, and a Masonic tradition that continues to change lives for the better.
